Absorption Refrigeration - Unique and Profitable

Absorption refrigeration, developed by Michael Faraday in 1824, has found its niche. While this type of refrigeration system can be found in industrial and domestic situations, by far the fastest growing application is in recreational vehicles, motor homes, trailers, boats, remote areas, and Amish communities. This is due to the unit being small and quiet with few moving parts—the perfect refrigerator for the road. LP gas or an electric heating element is used for the heat source, allowing the user to operate the unit safely and with ease.

Ammonia was the main refrigerant many years ago. With the new refrigerant laws changing today’s refrigerator and air conditioning industry, ammonia may very well become the main refrigerant of the future.

There are very few service techs available who have been trained in the proper procedures for reconditioning the cooling units on an absorption refrigerator. Therefore, at this time, it is a unique service and in high demand.

These refrigerators and cooling units, that can be fixed, are being thrown into the land fills everyday, simply because there is no one in that particular area that can repair them.

FACTS

- Make $185/hr. reconditioning cooling units

- It takes 5.5 – 6 hours actual hands-on time to recondition one unit

- It costs approximately $60 in materials to recondition one unit

   THE BIG QUESTION

What are the choices available to the consumer and how does reconditioning compare? To see an example go to: Compare Prices

  OUR ENVIRONMENT

The liquid and gases used in Absorption refrigeration are not harmful to our environment. Ammonia is used to fertilize crops. Plus, it can be saved and reused later, which makes it cost effective. Hydrogen is the only chemical lost from an absorption refrigerator. Small quantities get released into the atmosphere where it originally came from when the unit develops a leak.

Due to those facts, there are no EPA laws to contend with, no special licensing required, and a person can invest less than $10,000 for products and tools to begin offering this service. It only takes eleven refrigerators to make that investment back.
